Creating a wallet

To create a wallet, you will need to complete these 4 steps:

Note that only Super Admins and Admins have permission to create a wallet. To enable a user within your organization to create a wallet, you would first need to change their role.

It is highly recommended to use incognito browser instances to create wallets to prevent your browser from caching your Key Card.

There is no limit to the number of wallets that can be created.

To create a wallet, go to Wallets and click Create a wallet.

Wallet details

First, select a blockchain for your wallet. Note that only Ethereum is supported currently and more blockchains will be added in future.

For EVM based wallets such as Ethereum, you will first need to fund the gas tank in order to create the wallet. As a start, we recommend topping up 0.2 ETH for Ethereum Mainnet.

Next, give your wallet a name. This wallet name is used for identification when shared within your organization, and can be edited in future.

Providing a wallet password for private keys encryption

Next, provide a wallet password. When choosing a wallet password, take note of the following:

  1. This password will be shared with all users within the same wallet and it will also be used by the same group of users when initiating a transaction from this wallet.

  2. This password will be used to decrypt your encrypted private key in the case where the password is lost.

Generating your private keys

At this step, your Key Card, which includes your private keys and your encrypted wallet password, will be automatically downloaded to your desktop.

โ—You will also need to ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ print and ๐Ÿ”’ store your physical Key Card somewhere secure. Learn more about best practices for the physical storage of your Key Card.

Activating your wallet

To activate your wallet, you will need to open your Key Card and look for the activation code, which is an 8-digit code. Copy the activation code and enter it on your Levain application.
